Your student will learn and hone their musical skills as part of a fun-filled student string orchestra each week, taught by skilled string music teachers.
Beginner KidStrings introduces your child to the instruments of the string orchestra! Your child will begin playing violin, viola, cello, or bass in a fun and engaging musical environment. The first half of the semester will cover the basics of instrument care, proper instrument and bow hold, and basic note-reading with nurturing and experienced strings specialists, and in the second half your child will get to play in a real string ensemble! Students will focus on basic techniques, reading music, and playing simple melodies together. Perfect for a beginner who has had less than one year of private or group study.
Check back in late summer to sign up for Fall classes!
Intermediate KidStrings is for violin, viola, cello, and bass students who already have at least one year of playing experience or private instruction. In this class, violin, viola, cello and bass students get to explore practicing and performing with their friends as a real string ensemble! In addition to learning more challenging but fun music, students will hone critical leadership, discipline, and social skills as part of a musical “team.” Repertoire, practice, and skill development is geared toward a culminating performance with other students. Not available until Fall 2018
Both class levels are best for students in 3rd through 5th grade, but we will consider younger students on a case-by-case basis.
Currently available at Sarah Smith, Jackson, E. Rivers, Morris Brandon, and Atlanta Classical in Buckhead. Are you a parent, teacher, or administrator interested in having a KidStrings afterschool class at your school? Give us a call!
