We’ve been slowly growing over the past almost three years, and thought it’s time to introduce you to the talented musician educators working with our students. We couldn’t be more grateful for such a great group of passionate and talented teaching staff!
You already know all about Jen, the owner (if not, find out more here!), and here’s a bit more about Katerina & our newest member, Cecilia!
Katerina Lewis is a freelance performer and teacher of viola and violin. An Atlanta native, Katerina received a Bachelor of Music degree in music performance from Converse College and a Master of Music degree in music performance from Georgia State University. Katerina has been the principal violist of the Atlanta Pops Orchestra since 2012 and is a founding member of Luna Strings, one of the most sought-after string groups in the Atlanta area. Recent performances have seen Katerina on stage with Chloe Agnew, formerly of Celtic Woman, Governor Nathan Deal’s daughter Katie Deal, the Croatian rock group 2Cellos, superstar Josh Groban, and multi-platinum recording artist John Driskell Hopkins of the Zac Brown Band. In her free time, Katerina enjoys traveling, spin classes, reading, eating oysters, watching baseball, and is a strong animal rescue advocate and cat shelter volunteer. She is starting her second year with Buckhead Strings, working with students at E Rivers and Sarah Smith Elementaries.
Cecilia Trode is a freelance educator and performer in the Atlanta area. She started the viola in public school in sixth grade and was teaching and working professionally by high school. She’s an Atlanta native, and attended Georgia State University where she studied Viola Performance with Tania Maxwell Clements. Shortly after that, she moved to Chicago and attended Northwestern where she received a Masters of Music in Music Theory. She has been freelancing and teaching full time in the Chicago area for the last few years, and is absolutely thrilled to have recently returned to the Atlanta area. She loves introducing children to the wonderful world of music, and celebrates the musical potential in every child. In her spare time, you can find her on a bicycle, dreaming up next week’s lesson plans. This is her first year with Buckhead Strings, and she is thrilled to be working with students at Morris Brandon and WT Jackson Elementaries.
